Ottawa County's firefighters now have a new tool in their arsenal to help them administer treatment to cats, dogs and other animals.
Humane Society of Ottawa County Officer Denny Hammond obtained 15 animal resuscitation kits from Air for Paws, a grassroots nonprofit in Morgan Hill, Calif.
The kits include adjustable, cone-shaped oxygen masks designed to better fit a dog's muzzle, and smaller ones to accommodate an animal as tiny as a hamster. A snug fit allows the animal to get more air than they would with a typical mask.
